Medical Helicopter Crash | Was the pilot properly trained? | The story of SkyLife 4 - N408FC

In this episode, I will tell the story of the fatal SkyLife 4 medical helicopter crash that took place on December 10, 2015 just north of Bakersfield, CA.  The pilot, flight paramedic, flight nurse, and the patient, were all killed in this accident which occurred in a perfectly functioning helicopter.  The pilot may have had a lack of training and experience with this model helicopter (Bell 407), the advanced avionics, and did not use night vision goggles even though they were required by the operator.  I will also briefly hit on the over use of HEMS in the U.S. as well as how Worker's Compensation can come into play, even in fatal accidents such as this.

I am very curious to know your thoughts on the overuse of HEMS in the U.S.!  If you have a story you'd like me to discuss please let me know in the comments below.
